Reelu is a Spanish HR-tech firm revolutionizing the recruitment process with an AI-first approach. Traditional job boards prioritize candidates, whereas Reelu places generative AI at the forefront of the user interface. Employers post vacancies, applicants submit their CVs and KAI the platform’s AI career assistant, processes, improves and customizes each profile.
KAI doesn’t just reframe CVs; it’s a career guide. Through lively Q&A, it uncovers more skills, crafts a richer career tale and generates an animated “storyboard” of the candidate’s professional identity. Behind the scenes, the AI matches candidates to the best-fit job vacancies, transforming recruitment into a personalized, intelligent and mobile-first experience.
The Challenge
With merely a startup concept, Reelu approached us with zero assets. The aspiration was grand:
- Build a full-featured MVP within less than 5 months.
- Deliver a refined mobile-first user experience.
- Create real-time generative AI that is as intuitive as chatting with a human career advisor, supported by a powerful agentic flow capable of executing multi-step thinking and making decisions.
The inclusion of AI brought new challenges:
Acceptance testing could not be solely defined as a matter of functionality success depended on the AI producing useful, context-aware output via multi-step reasoning.
AI workflows needed to be continuously tuned and tested during development, with cyclic testing iterations unlike what is common in standard IT projects.
Processing data, prompt engineering and orchestration of the agent needed to be treated as first-class engineering tasks, on the same level as ground-up backend and frontend work.
Our Solution
We adopted a concurrent development strategy to meet the aggressive schedule: UX/UI design started immediately, with parallel backend and frontend build. AI integration was solved ahead of time, facilitating direct feedback from users into model calibration.
- AI-Centric Capabilities Delivered:
- AI CV Transformer: Converts uploaded CVs to a neat internal format, making it readable and consistent.
- AI Career Coach: Guides candidates through interactive Q&A to identify missing skills and achievements.
- AI Job Matching Engine: Pairs candidates with the most suitable roles, utilizing contextual analysis “Tinder for jobs, but like Tinder.”
- Dynamic Storyboard Generator: Generates an interactive and eye-catching career profile from AI analysis.
In addition to AI, we provided a fully responsive mobile-first interface, hosted on Vercel with Supabase for database and auth, for scalability in view of exponential market growth.
Collaboration & Team Structure
The project team consisted of six:
- 1 Project Manager
- 1 Tech Lead
- 1 UX/UI Designer
- 2 Full-Stack Developers
- 1 AI Engineer
Besides that, we have weekly 2 internal 1h long “sync meeting” to ensure team alignment on the top priority items with demos included and additional sessions for AI performance reviews. Even though the client set the vision, they left the technical and AI integration decisions up to us.

Results
- Have delivered an AI-first, production-ready recruitment platform in under 8 months.
- Developed four AI-powered core features that differentiate Reelu from standard job boards.
- Designed the architecture for scalability to allow for continuous AI model updates post-launch.
- Have received very positive feedback from the client about the product, as well as the smooth collaboration.
Lessons Learned
AI-centered projects demand a different playbook compared to those of standard IT builds. Scope estimation must factor in AI experimentation and tuning cycles, and acceptance testing centers on output quality rather than functional delivery alone. Situating AI at the center of the platform changed how we structured sprints, guaranteed work and collaborated with the client.Conclusion
Reelu shows how an AI-first strategy can rethink an omnipresent product category. By making generative AI the core of the hiring process, the site gives candidates a structured, personalized experience – and gives employers richer, more accurate profiles to hire from. This project shows that when AI is seen as a core design column, the result isn’t just a smarter tool, but an inherently better way to connect people and possibilities.
